Ansa Edge

Perennial ryegrass

Diploid, +14 days.

Ansa is one of the first diploid perennial ryegrasses to be made available with Edge endophyte.

The novel endophyte Edge provides this grass with protection from black beetle, Argentine stem weevil (ASW), pasture mealy bug and root aphid, without affecting animal production or health. Read more about Edge here.

Ansa has excellent annual production, equal to the best ryegrasses available (see graph below). A key strength of Ansa is growth in winter and early spring, when it is more productive than most other cultivars (Yaldhurst, 2008).

The Dairy NZ Forage Value Index (FVI) is an independent profit-based index that creates an economic value for ryegrass cultivars, by allowing for the different value of the feed grown in different parts of the year.  Ansa AR1 has achieved a strong four-star rating for all regions in New Zealand regions.  This gives farmers confidence that Ansa Edge is a great choice for the value of feed it generates for their animals.  In the upper North Island, where AR1 is not considered to be a suitable endophyte, DLF Seeds expects the pereformance of Ansa with Edge endophyte to be even better.  To see the tables, click on this link - FVI tables.

Although proving to be popular with dairy farmers, Ansa is a perfect choice for other farm types where the best annual and seasonal production is required from a long-term pasture.
