This trial was drilled on 31 October on a farm near Ikamatua, in the Grey Valley, and harvested on 17 May 2016. 20 fodder beet cultivars were tested. The site was drilled at 90,000 seeds/ha and established well and evenly (see photo).
The trial was harvested on 17 May 2016 (photo below) and significant differences were found between cultivars. The average yield was 21.9 t DM/ha, with a range between cultivars of 15.4 to 26.1 t DM/ha (see graph). Bulb dry matter content was 3.2% points lower than the average of all DLF trials conducted to date.
